Bush hogging for overgrown lots and fields
We cut down tall grass, weeds and brush on overgrown lots, fields and fence lines so you can see your land and use it again.
Call (865) 346-6688What bush hogging is
Bush hogging is heavy mowing. A rotary cutter knocks down growth that a lawn mower cannot handle: waist high grass, thick weeds, briars and young brush. It is the fastest way to take an overgrown piece of ground back.
When you need it
- A lot or field has gone a season or more without mowing.
- You bought land and need to see what is there.
- Fence lines and edges are grown up.
- You are getting ready to sell, build or fence.
- Tall growth is hiding holes, junk or old foundations.
How we do it
We walk the property with you first. Overgrown land hides things like stumps, rocks, holes, old fencing and junk, and we want to know about them before a cutter hits them. Then you get a straight number in writing. Our own crew comes out with our Caterpillar 265 skid steer and cuts the area down. Show us your property lines and the edges you want cut, so nothing gets missed and nothing gets cut that should stay.
What affects the price
How many acres or how large the area is, how tall and thick the growth is, how steep the ground is and how much is hidden in it. Skid steer time starts at $125 an hour. Your final number comes from the site visit.
East Tennessee growth
Between the rain and the long growing season, a lot around Knoxville can go from mowed to overgrown fast. Briars, sumac and young saplings move in quickly. Hillside fields add another challenge, and we look at the slope before we commit to cutting it. Red clay that holds water can leave low spots soft for days after heavy rain, so we may wait for the ground to firm up.

Common questions
Do you cut trees?
No. Bush hogging handles grass, weeds, briars and young brush. Tree felling is not a service we offer.
Should I mark anything before you come?
Yes. Point out anything you know about, like stumps, wells, pipes, old fences or soft spots. We look again on the walk.
Can you clean up the land after cutting?
Yes. If there is brush, debris or junk to deal with, we can do land clean-up too. We talk it through at the site visit.
How often should a field be cut?
It depends on what you want from the land. Many owners cut once or twice a growing season to keep brush and saplings from taking over.
