Excavation and site prep in Lenoir City

Lenoir City is in Loudon County, right at Fort Loudoun Dam on the Tennessee River. Tellico Lake is just to the south, and a lot of the land around town is lake property or new building. We do site prep, footers, grading and drainage here.

Lake country

Fort Loudoun Lake sits above the dam, Watts Bar Lake starts below it, and Tellico Lake is close by on the Little Tennessee River. That much water means a lot of lots with frontage and a lot of slopes running down to a shoreline.

Lake lots bring their own problems. Ground near the water can stay soft. Runoff has to be handled so it does not wash soil into the lake. And work close to the shoreline can fall under rules from the Tennessee Valley Authority, so check before you plan anything near the water.

New homes and growing subdivisions

Loudon County has a lot of new home building, both in subdivisions and on single lots. For a new build we can clear the site, prep it for the builder, dig footers, and come back after the framing for rough and final grade.

Trenching for water, electric and drain lines is part of many of these jobs. The Vermeer mini skid steer runs a trencher, and our 10 inch and 24 inch augers handle post holes and footing holes.

Clay and rolling land

Away from the lakes, the county is rolling farmland and wooded hills on red clay. Some rural tracts need bush hogging and land clean-up before anyone can see what is there. Clay sheds water rather than soaking it up, so grading matters on every lot, not just the steep ones.

Permits in Lenoir City and Loudon County

Inside city limits, check with Lenoir City. Outside the city, check with Loudon County. Some lake communities have their own rules on top of that. Call Tennessee 811 before any digging.

Common questions

Can you grade a lake lot?

Yes, as long as the plan keeps runoff under control and stays within the rules for your shoreline. Check with the Tennessee Valley Authority about work near the water before you set a date. We will walk the slope with you first.

Do you dig trenches for utility lines?

We dig the trench for water, electric and drain lines to the depth you need. We do not make utility hookups. Your plumber or electrician lays and connects the line, then we can backfill.
