Excavation on Sevierville's hillside lots
Sevierville is the county seat of Sevier County, at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. People build here for the views, and the views come with slopes. We do site prep, footers, grading, drainage and driveway work on lots across the area.

Many lots around Sevierville are cut into hillsides. The flat spot for the house often has to be made, and the drive has to climb to reach it. Ground is red clay mixed with rock, and you often do not know how much rock until you start digging.
A steep lot also changes how footers get dug and how the finished grade has to hold. We look at the slope, the access for our trailer and machines, and where water will run before we give you a number. If part of a lot is too steep for our equipment to work safely, we will say so.
Steep gravel drives
Gravel drives on mountain lots take a beating. Rain runs straight down them, cuts ruts and carries the gravel to the bottom. Fixing it usually means regrading the drive so water runs off the side instead of down the middle, and adding ditches or turnouts where they help. Regular maintenance keeps a small washout from turning into a big one.
Rivers and runoff
The Little Pigeon River runs through Sevierville, and the French Broad River and Douglas Lake are to the north. Heavy mountain rain moves fast off the slopes and into the creeks. Good drainage on a hillside lot slows that water down and keeps it away from the house and the foundation.
Permits in Sevierville and Sevier County
Inside city limits, check with the City of Sevierville. Outside, check with Sevier County. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg each have their own offices. Hillside grading can have extra requirements, so ask early. Call Tennessee 811 before any digging.
Common questions
Can you fix a gravel drive that washes out every storm?
Usually, yes. Most washouts come from water running down the drive instead of off it. We regrade the drive to shed water and add ditches where they make sense. We will look at where the water comes from first.
Do you come out as far as Sevierville?
Yes, Sevier County is part of our area. Distance can affect the price, so ask about it when you call. We still walk the lot before we give you a number.

Work we do around Sevierville
Site prep
Site prep gets the ground ready for your builder so the job can start on time. We clear what is in the way, level the work area and leave a site the next crew can use.
Learn more02Footers
We dig footers to the lines and depth on your plans, clean and square, so your builder can set forms and pour without fixing our work first.
Learn more03Driveway repair and maintenance
A gravel drive that holds water turns into ruts, potholes and washouts. We regrade it, shape it so water runs off, and get it back to a drive you can use.
Learn more04Drainage
Standing water, a soggy yard or water running toward the house all come down to how the ground is shaped. We change the shape so the water goes somewhere else.
Learn more05Grade work
Grade work shapes the ground so water runs where it should and the site sits the way you need it to. We walk it first and give you a straight number in writing.
